Nametoko Valley Canyoning

The best natural slide in Japan – The series of water falls that you can slide down.

Nametoko Valley is located in Matsuno-Cho, Ehime prefrecture. Matsuno-Cho is in a tributary region of Shimanto River, the last clear stream in Japan. The entire valley is designated as Ashizuri Uwakai National Park and the clearness of the water would exceed what, urban people believe, is clear water. Local people have been enjoying the water fall sliding and taking advantage of its unique geographic characteristics. There are many canyoning tours in Japan, however, Nametoko Valley is the only place where you can enjoy a National Park, length and size of the slides and a large spacious area. We offer a variety of courses – a half day, one day, family, or combination course with rafting.

Shimanto River Rafting

The most famous river in Japan. Total length 196 km (122 miles).

Shimanto River is a large river that runs through the south west part of Kochi prefecture. It is called “the last clear stream of Japan” to reflect the life style of people living along the river and the landscape in the original state like back in the olden days. Between 196km riverside, you will not see any large dams, weirs, or solar panels which now are popular throughout Japan. Except for the city area of Shimanto-City, which is located at the last end of the river, there are also no convenience stores. The lifestyle of the local residents has not changed much for the past 50 years. What would you feel in the middle of this large river?
